Ghost Playlist II

In the February I posted the Ghost Playlist, a collection of songs that are present here and there while I work and play, sometimes not in that order.

A lot of people sent me comments about it, and some even asked whether there were other songs that also play. Well, here we are now, the Ghost Playlist II. The first one was arguably a combination of hard and dark. This is definitely hard. Again, these are songs that just came to mind that I have always enjoyed while working or just having fun.

The Ghost Playlist II

Asteroid, by Killing Joke

Right in that crossroad where punk and industrial meet, not quite like KMFDM, but packing a huge punch, Killing Joke is the early '80s thing to put on your walkman as you were cruising the city on your skateboard, giving the middle finger to all the old people.

The Final Blood Bath, by Discharge

Raw and simple. Loud music that presented, back in the day, the late '70s and early '80s anarchy sense of doom. They get the blood pumping and it's one of those bands you can have on repeat during the most sadistic workouts.

Mein Herz Brennt, by Rammstein

Listen to the original but focus on the "Boys Noize Remix" version. One of Rammstein's lesser known songs, I believe. But Rammstein nonetheless. These guys just spell hardcore doom in this song, and it's awesome. And while you are at it, listen to Till Lindemann's Entre Dos Tierras and Knebel.

Helpless, by Metallica

Ah... Metallica. Love them, hate them, or be indifferent, but they are here. The early works in the '80s are just some of the best thrash metal from that time. Helpless is fast and gets you going when you need that extra gram of energy. Just play it loud.

Moon Over Marin, by Dead Kennedys

Biafra and his band of merry boys's ridiculously awesome lyrics with just ludicrous music. Skate rock meets politics meets "stop and think for a second..." That's all. Go forth and listen. Add also to the list Government Flu and Terminal Preppie.

I Am The Hunted, by GBH

Right there with Discharge and The Exploited, UK's late '70s punk rock full of anger and spit. Just keep it on repeat, along with Sick Boy and Give Me Fire.

Bleed, by Meshuggah

Let's start with the name - Meshuggah - literally meaning "crazy" in Yiddish. Then add the drummer (Tomas Haake) and then just fucking go and complete your mission. Fuck... It's just insane...

I Told You So, by Slapshot

Old time hardcore, from Boston. These guys are getting better the older they get. Fast and angry, Slapshot is not for the weak. They are insanely good live. Hear them with the volume set to 10000.

Nothin' For You, by T.S.O.L.

One of the original California punk rock bands, they are at times hardcore, at times melodic, and at time just undefined, but they are always hard to diggest. It's one of those bands that you hate, then you love, then you learn something about them and hate them again, and then you listen to them again, and back to loving them... You get it.

Barroom Hero, by Dropkick Murphys

One of my favorite bands of all times. This is one of the original songs and damn it's a fun one to listen to. Just makes you happy.

Shape Of Things To Come, by Audioslave

Chris Cornell meets Rage Against the Machine, what can go wrong? All! To the point that it's just insanity, in how good they are. I mean, listen to Tim Commerford on that bass... Just listen.

Thunder Kiss '65, by White Zombie

If you could bring Eli Roth' movies to the world of metal you would get White Zombie. Man, fastatic music, crazy lyrics ("You're all shook up, aren't you baby? I never try anything, I just do it Wanna try me?"), and pure atitude.

Back From The Dead, by House Of Pain

Yeah, not punk, not metal... Rap (don't call it hip hop). Low tones, NYC crap, and very hypnotic rhythm. Worth sitting down with whiskey and just head bang until you are done.

World In A World, by Vio-Lence

Thrash with a twist. Darkness brings a different feeling to the music of Vio-Lence, a lesser known but awesome AF band out of the '80s SF metal scene. This particular song is... Well, you'll get it when you listen to it. Bonus, the original video has the first helmet cam.
